Midweek Confessions

Whenever I'm trying to get back on track with blogging it always feels like I ease into with a little Midweek Confession.  Clearly today is no exception.

I must confess...

-I had skinny dip today even though I wasn't in love with the flavors.  Don't get me wrong, Cookies-n-Cream is a good one but it isn't the best pairing with my favorite toppings.

-While our temporary roommate, Matt, was moving out today I sat on the couch and stalked people on Facebook.  Eventually I offered to help but it was half-hearted and he didn't take me up on my offer.

-I'm feeling even more anti-social this week than usual.

-I thought I might cry this morning when I woke up with arm pain from my tetanus shot.  I knew it would be bad (I'm still traumatized from the first one) but my arm feels like it's on fire, looks swollen, and I'm fairly certain my range of motion has decreased.

-I realize that overall this post is coming across as fairly negative, but I've not been in the best spirits lately.  Truth is, my Papa is really sick and I'm coming to terms with the fact that he isn't going to  get better.  It's hard to watch and hard to process.  I've been praying about it a lot and find such comfort in seeking God when I'm feeling sad.  Selfishly I'd love to have him around longer, but deep down I know he is going to a better place.  He's had a really great life surrounded by people who love him and I'm sure if he was asked he wouldn't have any complaints.  I love that man.

weekend trip to charleston

I just got back from Charleston, SC and L O V E D it (it was my first time visiting)!  I went down with my Mom for my cousin Anthony's wedding and had so much fun with my family.  We stayed at the Mill House Hotel right downtown and tried out as many things as we could before it was time to head back.  I ate at a couple cute restaurants, my favorites being Toast and the famous Poogan's Porch, and walked every square inch of their market.  The wedding was beautiful and despite all the rain it was a great weekend!

I wish I had pictures to share but Jake took our camera to Haiti... more on that soon!  Well, here is one of the happy couple that I stole from Facebook!

Quarter of a Century

Yes folks, today marks my 25th Birthday. 

I think after a person turns 21 the "big" birthdays get fewer and farther between.  Honestly, 25 is really not an important age but its the equivalent to a quarter of a century, which apparently makes it special.  Regardless, I enjoyed my day and the people who made it a big deal!

I started the day with church and then headed to Cheesecake Factory for lunch with my family.  My Mom was awesome and took care of coordinating everything, including my birthday balloon at the table (which I happened to love).  After lunch we went to a nail salon and got spa mani/pedis while watching The Blind Side... it was so awesome!  Before I knew it, my Dad was there ready to go out to dinner (to yet another one of my favorite places).   So much for my "diet"...

Thanks to everyone for your phone calls, text messages, and cards!!!  I had such a great day and feel so blessed!  

Victorious... again!

Something magical happens when my brother Tim and I get together to play cornhole... now that I think about it, the magic is victory!

We joined forces for the first time since Mother's Day and I have to tell you, it was AWESOME! Tim has an interesting toss style but it works so I won't judge and I on the other hand, offer zero consistency in my toss at all- I just get lucky (more than our competition does). When these two forces come together though, a win is always in order! We are currently undefeated and would like to challenge anyone who we haven't beaten to bring it.

We welcome competition, general viewers, and fans to the next match up... and if you're lucky you'll get to see me perform my newly created "victory punch". This is a move to be solely used in response to points earned when playing as Tim's partner and may have been enhanced and officially adopted after realizing all our competitors hated it!
